The Mozambican national soccer team lost (0-2) this Tuesday (10) against their counterparts from South Africa, in a private match as part of the FIFA-Date, played in the South African city of Polokwane..
According to a Challenge newspaperIn the midst of the national team's desert of ineptitude, goalkeeper Ivane stood out, preventing the national team from leaving the Peter Mokaba Stadium with an expressive defeat, the 2-0 score being very flattering for Chiquinho Conde's pupils, who didn't even get to "warm up their engines".
Ivane's saves began after just two minutes in a match in which Bafana-Bafana were showing clear signs of wanting to get ahead early on, but they only managed to do so in the second half through Kwayiba (47') and Asheley (70').
A fair result on a day when the national team's performance left a lot to be desired.
After the match, national coach Chiquinho Conde assessed the Mambas' performance, acknowledging the difficulties his charges had in getting into the game.
"The game was difficult for us. The South African team came on stronger, had more of the ball and we couldn't control the game. The players had a hard time because our championship, Moçambola, only started in May (...), said Chiquinho Conde.
"I've been here for four years, long enough to know how to deal with defeats. I'm going to work with the players to show them the images of this game. We conceded two goals in the build-up and we know that mistakes will continue to be made. In the context of the national team we don't have time to work and it's very difficult," he added.
