Date set for closing arguments in the Nini Satar assassination attempt case

Já há data para as alegações finais no Caso tentativa de assassinato de Nini Satar

The Machava Judicial Court, in Matola, Maputo province, has set May 15 for the presentation of the closing arguments in the trial of the attempted murder of Nini Satar.

This is a phase in which the Public Prosecutor's Office and the defendants' defense will present the conclusions of fact and law that they have drawn from the evidence produced during the hearings, in accordance with the Code of Criminal Procedure in force in the country.

In other words, this is the phase in which the Public Prosecutor's Office will have to make its case in favor of a possible conviction of the defendants, while the defense will try to fine-tune the machine to convince the judge of the innocence of the accused defendants.

For this phase, the parties agreed at Thursday's hearing that the closing arguments would be made in written form, which will not lead to hearing sessions, as explained by the judge in charge of the case, Lucílio Nhanombe.

So that there are no complaints in the process of producing the closing arguments, the judge stressed that the court will make the trial proceedings available for consultation by all procedural actors.

The date of the reading of the judgment, in this case, will be known as soon as the closing arguments have been presented. (RM)
