The Institute of Legal Assistance (IPAJ) has assisted 145,482 citizens this year, the Minister of Justice, Constitutional and Religious Affairs, Mateus Saize, revealed yesterday.
According to the government official, the figure represents an increase of 0.89% compared to what was planned for the first half of 2025 and an increase of 15.12% compared to the same period last year, when 129,413 people were assisted.
Saize was speaking at the opening ceremony of the institution's 10th Coordinating Council: Justice and National Unity: 50 Years of Consolidating Social Peace and Sustainable Development.
On the occasion, the president defended the adoption of reforms to make the prison system more humane, and urged the participants to make the Council a moment for reflection and action.
