Economic Climate Indicator rises from 91.2 to 97.6 points in the third quarter

Indicador de Clima Económico sobe de 91,2 para 97,6 pontos no terceiro trimestre

The Enterprise Economic Climate Indicator (ICEE) rose from 91.2 to 97.6 points in the third quarter of this year, the National Statistics Institute (INE) announced this Wednesday..

"The ICEE registered a slight increase in the third quarter" compared to the previous quarter and in line with the "recovery that started in the fourth quarter of 2021," reads the INE bulletin released yesterday.

The "favorable behavior" was influenced "by the prospects of rising employment and future demand."

But not all sectors share the optimism.

The favorable assessment of the economic climate was due to "the positive assessment in the trade and services sectors," while entrepreneurs in the industrial production sector revised their activities "downward" compared to the previous quarter.

The ICEE is part of the Confidence Indicators and Economic Climate Bulletin, a publication on the Mozambican conjuncture compiled on the basis of a survey conducted by INE to companies in the non-financial sector.

"The survey expresses the opinion of economic agents about the development and outlook of their activity, particularly on employment, demand, orders, prices, production, sales and activity limitations," the statistical authority explains.
