A major fire reduced a popcorn factory and raw materials warehouse to ashes on Friday (02), in the Pioneiros industrial zone, in the city of Beira, Sofala.

According to NewsThe fire was caused by a short circuit inside the warehouse. The proportion of the flames threatened to reach surrounding buildings.

It took the intervention of the SENSAP fire department, Mozambique Airports and Mozambique Railways to put out the fire.

Witnesses said that the fire started around ten o'clock and until mid-afternoon the work to contain the flames was still ongoing.
