Hacker tries to sell data of almost all Austrian citizens

A hacker has been arrested by authorities in the Netherlands after obtaining and attempting to sell the private data of almost all Austrian citizens, reports Reuters, quoted by Notícias ao Minto.

According to the source, this hacker's attempt was made in 2020 and the arrest was made in November last year, in an apartment he owned in Amsterdam. He is 25 years old and allegedly also tried to sell similar data 'packages' on citizens of Italy, Colombia and the Netherlands itself.

Among the private data on sale was information such as full name, address and date of birth. There were no bank details.

The police have only just announced the hacker's arrest to avoid interfering with the investigation.
