Government 'implores' motorists to pay toll fees

Governo ‘implora’ automobilistas a pagar taxas de portagem

The government says there are still motorists who refuse to pay the fees at the country's toll plazas, even after the prices for most classes of vehicle have been revised. The executive is appealing for the fees to be paid.

"With the downward revision of toll rates, the government hopes to alleviate the operating costs of public passenger transport service providers in the urban and inter-provincial segment and citizens who regularly use tolls ... which requires the collaboration of transport service operators," said the Minister of State Administration and Civil Service, Inocêncio Impissa.

According to the government spokesman, there are 25 tolls out of operation as a result of vandalizations in the post-election period.

"Even those that are operational today, so 16, most of them are operating in a conditioned way, and there are still motorists who persist in promoting disorder in order to continue passing through the tolls without paying the appropriate fees," he said.

Speaking to journalists, Impissa stressed the Executive's call for all citizens to contribute to the efforts to normalize life, "and to distance themselves from any situation of vandalism at certain points of public and private infrastructure".
