Governo e parceiros promovem Expo Café

Expo Café Moçambique 2025 kicks off today in Maputo, an initiative of the Ministry of Agriculture, Environment and Fisheries (MAAP) and the Mozambican Coffee Growers Association (AMOCAFÉ).

The event runs until Saturday under the slogan "From cultivation to tasting: Celebrating Mozambique's 50 years of Independence".

The event aims to enhance coffee culture, promote local producers, encourage domestic consumption and stimulate partnerships along the value chain of this emblematic product.

On this occasion, the vice-president of the Association of Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises, Pedro Silva, acknowledged the remarkable efforts already being made by the government to exploit this potential in a structured, innovative and inclusive way.

He advocated the creation of a healthy market environment for the development of the business. "What is needed today is not to discover this potential, but to speed up the processes that lead to its full exploitation, creating a market environment that is truly conducive to the rapid and sustainable growth of the national coffee sector," he said.

He also said that MSMEs should be supported to act not only as producers, but also as processors, distributors, exporters and creators of their own brands of Mozambican coffee.

"It is imperative to democratize access to opportunities and create the conditions for coffee to be a sector where small entrepreneurs can also grow, compete and prosper," he added.
