The National Democratic Congress (NDC) candidate, John Mahama, won the elections in Ghana on Saturday, and his opponent acknowledged this and congratulated the President-elect.
The defeated candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mahamudu Bawumia, said that the people of Ghana voted for change, and that all that remains is to accept defeat with humility.
The country's electoral authorities have not yet released the official results, but there is speculation that they could be released tomorrow.
Muhama, who was President of Gane between 2013 and 2017, will succeed Nana Akufo-Addo, who is now finishing his second term.
Ghana's two main parties, the NPP and the NDC, have alternated in power since the return to multi-party politics in 1992.
