Eurafrica Forum kicks off today with plans to turn ideas into projects

Fórum Eurafrica inicia hoje com planos de tornar ideias em projectos

The fifth edition of the Eurafrican Forum will start today, in the parish of Carcavelos, Portugal, one of the purposes being to discuss ideas that may become beneficial projects for both continents.

According to the President of the Board of the Portuguese Diaspora Council, there is great interest in investment in Africa from Portuguese businessmen spread around the world, who may direct investments to the areas of energy, infrastructure, or education and science.

"Before being projects, they have to be framed in a discussion and strategic vision," António Calçada de Sá pointed out.

The Eurafrican Forum, taking place today and Friday in Carcavelos, is organized around five axes and counts on the participation of the United Nations Secretary-General, António Guterres, the presidents of Portugal, Cape Verde, and São Tomé and Príncipe, and several Portuguese and African businessmen and bankers.

"Eurafrican was thought up seeking to discuss four or five major themes and topics linked to the relations between Europe and Africa; it has every interest for our relationship with Africa, a continent with which we have historical, social and cultural relations, especially with the Portuguese-speaking African Countries (PALOP)," said the president of the Diaspora Council.

Divided into two days, the Eurafrican is opened this morning by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Portugal, João Gomes Cravinho, and then there will be several panels dedicated to geopolitics and geostrategy, health, education and science, economy and employment, energy transition and digital transformation and, finally, oceans and blue economy, said António Calçada e Sá.

On Friday, there will be a corporate session with various businessmen, followed by the Presidential Dialogue between the heads of state.
