The Mozambican Football Federation (FMF), led by Feizal Sidat, has approved a new text of its statutes, in which the main changes include extending the number of consecutive terms that can be served by the president of the board from two to three..
According to a Challenge newspaperThe federation's new statutes also allow for an increase from 11 to 17 delegates with the right to vote at the General Assembly.
The revision of the FMF's statutes is in line with the recommendations made by FIFA after the 2023 General Assembly elections. World soccer's governing body indicated that the FMF should make an effort to change its statutes to bring them into line with its own and to extend, in particular, the number of bodies that elect delegates to the General Assembly and have voting powers. The idea, according to FIFA, is to create the basis for a democratic process in the management of the FMF.
The FMF's new statutes were presented, discussed and appraised at an executive board meeting held last Tuesday, August 26, at its headquarters in Maputo.
The purpose of the discussion was firstly to bring the members of the FMF's Executive Board into contact with the draft Statutes and also the proposed amendments to the text of one article and another.
In the meantime, once the changes to the text have been approved, the new Statutes will be submitted for consideration and voting at the next General Assembly, to be called at any time.
After approval by the General Assembly, the subsequent steps will follow, namely publication in the Official Gazette.
Once these procedures have been completed, the new Statutes will guide the FMF's operation as the highest soccer management body in Mozambique. With their approval and publication in the Official Gazette, the current Statutes, in force since 2009, will be repealed.
