US and UK send experts to investigate plane crash in India

The United States of America (USA) and the United Kingdom will send experts to work alongside the Indian authorities to determine the causes of the plane crash that took place yesterday in the city of Ahmedabad, in western India.

The 787-8 Dreamliner, manufactured by Boeing and operated by Air India, crashed yesterday shortly after take-off from Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport and was en route to London Gatwick Airport.

The aircraft was carrying 242 people, including 169 Indian citizens, 43 Britons, seven Portuguese and one Canadian. Only one person on the aircraft survived. There were other victims on the ground where the plane crashed and exploded. So far, the death toll is estimated at 290.

In 2024, Boeing engineer Salem Salehpour denounced manufacturing problems with the airplane model, according to G1.
