The past is the reservoir of great deeds and, for this reason, history only celebrates daring men, visionary leaders and implementers of landmark actions for the progress and advancement of civilization.
So, in five or ten years' time, History, this eternal ally of Time, will be here to tell us stories and histories, actions and adventures, and to take stock of the New Era that recently began in Mozambique.
It is the habit of people, and especially leaders, to think about the beginning only at the end. But a visionary leader knows that it's at the beginning that you have to think about the end.
That's why it's ideal that now, at the beginning of their term, the President of the Republic and his government think about the end: what country do they want to see in 2030? What society do they want to build by 2030? What is the vision? What are the prospects? And, above all, what and how to do to get there?
In this respect, there are a number of actions planned (and some implemented) by the government which, for the time being, seem to show clarity in the direction to be taken.
In fact, the Five-Year Plan and/or the Government Program or, more specifically, the State Budget|2025 present a corollary of actions and initiatives which, as I said, show a direction to follow for the development of society and the country in general.
However, in Mozambique, the problem has not been planning. The problem is implementation, i.e. putting the plan into practice. This is the crux of the matter for almost all governance plans and programs.
In view of this, it is important for the current government to be an agent of rupture and change. In addition to strategic vision, the President of the Republic needs the courage to implement his Governance Program. What's more, both society and the Party must give space and be patient in the face of the necessary changes to be implemented, because change always frightens people, transforms the environment and alters reality.
And it is these characteristics that make change a transforming agent. And today it is transformation that we need most.
Therefore, the key to success in this new cycle of governance lies in the ability to mobilize the population and unite them for a clear purpose; to confront some hard circles and cores of power, which are therefore resistant to change; and to implement, with a high dose of courage and without looking back, changes that are necessary for the development of this country that has been waiting for economic independence for a long time.
It is these actions, combined with other less challenging ones, which, if implemented, will make this government truly inaugurate a "New Era" and, consequently, be remembered by the population as a government that dared and improved the lives of the Mozambican people.
It is precisely these actions that will convince history to record, in the vast "Encyclopedia of the Success of Peoples and Nations", the name of Mozambique and the leader who instigated this positive change.
In short, let's think now about the future. We are therefore all interested, in 2030, in hearing and, above all, agreeing with Speeches of Glory and Success about this Cycle of Governance.
And the key is not just to plan, but above all to have the courage to implement what you have planned. You really need to change the way you do things.
