Electricity: Malfunction again puts the city of Quelimane in the dark

Energia eléctrica: Avaria volta a colocar cidade de Quelimane às escuras

A fault today once again affected the electricity supply to 15,000 people in Quelimane, in the center of the country, after a similar problem a week ago, the state-owned electricity company announced.

The "interruptions in the power supply" affect neighborhoods in the provincial capital of Zambézia, "due to a breakdown in the electrical substation" that supplies part of the city, explained Electricidade de Moçambique (EDM) in a statement, quoted by Lusa.

"As a result, 15,000 customers are without power," at a time when "EDM's technical teams are on the ground" to resolve the situation.

According to the latest figures, by the end of November the company had made more than 300,000 new ones in 2022, a milestone reached for the first time in 45 years of activity.
