Former Mozambican President Joaquim Chissano will lead an African Union (AU) election observation mission for the June 4 legislative elections in Guinea-Bissau.
According to the document to which Lusa had access, the short-term mission will be composed of 29 elements and will be in the country between May 29 and June 8.
The mission will meet with the Guinean President, Umaro Sissoco Embaló, with several members of the government, with representatives of civil society and with representatives of the political parties contesting the elections, among others," reads the document.
Nearly 900,000 voters are called to cast their ballots on June 4 to elect the 102 deputies to the People's National Assembly and the new government, among 20 political parties and two coalitions.
