After Elon Musk, Japanese can use Mozambican raw material to produce electric vehicle batteries

Depois de Elon Musk, japoneses podem aproveitar matéria-prima moçambicana para produzir baterias de veículos eléctricos

The Mozambican government is looking for Japanese investment to set up a factory in Mozambique to produce batteries for electric cars.

Last year, the South African multi-millionaire, owner of electric vehicle manufacturer Tesla, signed a contract with Syrah Resources to buy graphite from the Balama mines in Cabo Delgado province to produce batteries for electric cars.

The Minister of Transport and Communications, Mateus Magala, said that the battery factory that is expected to be owned by Japanese businessmen will join the factory that produces electric cars that the country plans to build.

Magala revealed that the plan is for the batteries to be produced in Mozambique in order to respond to the import of electric vehicles. In addition, it is hoped that Mozambique will be able to receive Japanese technological know-how.

Visiting Mozambique last week, Japanese businessmen, who were in the Japanese Prime Minister's entourage, showed their desire to diversify their investment in the country, and sought to find out from the Mozambican government if there was a project to produce batteries for electric cars.
