The Attorney General's Office (PGR) has recovered more than 67 million meticais, 192 vehicles and 40 properties in favor of the state that were in the possession of state officials.
The valuables and assets recovered were acquired by the former owners - public servants - through illegal and fraudulent acts, especially corruption.
According to Sérgio Reis, the Deputy Attorney General of the Republic, he admits that the assets recovered still fall short of what is desired, but assured that the Public Prosecutor's Office will make every effort to revert to the state the values and assets in the possession of others.
Quoted by RM, he noted that although the Central Asset Recovery Office is still "at an embryonic stage" it has already achieved "tangible results".
"We have been recovering assets, but we recognize that we are still short of what is desirable," he admitted.
