The authorities will launch this year a tender to select a strategic partner to implement the project, which is expected to start construction in 2024.

An agreement to this effect was signed this Wednesday in Maputo between the Mphanda Nkuwa Hydropower Project Implementation Office and the International Hydropower Association

The General Manager of the Mphanda Nkuwa Hydropower Project, Carlos Yum, maintains that the cooperation will allow the project to follow internationally recognized practices in order to secure financing

Meanwhile, the Director of Sustainability of the International Hydropower Association, João Costa, says that the cooperation will allow better management of the social and natural impacts of the Mphanda Nkuwa project.

The National Energy Director at the Ministry of Mineral Resources and Energy, Pascoal Bacela, says that the agreement aims to meet the demands of the financiers, but also of the Mozambican society.
