The National Electoral Commission (CNE) refuted on Monday (30) any responsibility for the fact that some technicians from the electoral bodies, both the CNE and the Technical Secretariat for Electoral Administration (STAE), were unable to obtain visas to supervise and support the training of brigade members who will be working at the polling stations on October 9.
In a media FaxThe spokesman for the National Electoral Commission, Paulo Cuinica, said that the institution he heads is only responsible for managing electoral processes and not for issuing visas. Even so, he believes that any explanations and justifications for not issuing visas to technicians from electoral bodies can only be obtained from the National Migration Service.
"There is a very important fact to highlight here, which has to do with the granting of visas for our technicians to travel to some of these countries where the election is being held. Some technicians couldn't go because they couldn't get visas to enter those countries and we had to turn to those who were supposed to supervise the process so that they could carry out the training," Cuinica explained.
