Chiquinho Conde arrives on Saturday to lead the National Football Team

Chiquinho Conde chega no sábado para comandar a Selecção Nacional de Futebol

Mozambican coach Chiquinho Conde should arrive in the Mozambican capital on Saturday morning. Conde leaves Portugal for Mozambique at the invitation of the Mozambican Football Federation (FMF) to take the technical command of the Mambas.

On arrival in Maputo, the 55-year-old coach is expected to meet with the FMF management in order to settle the final details of the contract. It should be noted that the Mozambican national team is without a helmsman since the departure, last Saturday, of the Portuguese Horácio Gonçalves.

Chiquinho Conde is thus preparing to return to the country after having guided the V. Setubal under-23s from July 2018 to June 2020. Note that the former captain of the Mambas and scorer of Vitória de Setúbal had been without training for about 18 months.

"I am flattered to be chosen for such a thorny patriotic mission," said the next Mambas coach in reaction to the FMF invitation.

Chiquinho Conde has as his highest point the title of Mozambican champion (Moçambola) won in 2009 at the helm of Ferroviário de Maputo.
