Voter cards with various defects

Cartões de eleitores com vários defeitos

The voter registration cards being produced by Mobiles ID have several defects, according to our correspondents in various districts where registration is taking place.

Some cards come out with smudges and blurry photos, without the slightest quality, which, on voting day, can contribute to the reader's disqualification.

Some photographs can make it difficult to certify the authenticity of the card. When voters complain about poor quality photographs, which can lead to their disqualification at the polling station, some brigades agree to correct them, but others do not.

A brigade member from Chinonaquila, in Matola Rio, Maputo province, acknowledged that the first printed cards did indeed have smudges and blurred images, but assured that the problem has now been solved.

There are cases where cards are issued without the bearer's signature or fingerprint. Renamo, in Nacala Porto, Nampula province, complained that there were many cases of its members' cards being issued without fingerprints or the bearer's signature.

In many cases, printers take cards without photographs and fingerprints. In many of these cases, the process is repeated until the printer is able to take a card with these essential elements to certify its authenticity.

Most of these problems are related to malfunctioning printers.

In recent days, our correspondents have been reporting many cases of broken printers or poor card printing processes.

In many cases, the process takes place without working printers. Voters are registered, but only come back the next day to collect their cards. (CIP Text)
