Cabo Delgado: FDS e forças aliadas abatem mais de seis insurgentes em Muidumbe

At least six terrorists were killed by Mozambique's Defense and Security Forces (FDS), with the support of foreign forces deployed in the northern operational theater, during a confrontation on Sunday (18), in the town of Miangalewa, Muidumbe district, Cabo Delgado province.

According to a Txopela newspaperThe action took place in broad daylight, when the Mozambican military detected suspicious movements in the vicinity of one of their positions. "We were having a meal when we noticed strange movements. It was at that moment that we confirmed the insurgents' intention to attack one of our positions and we reacted immediately," said a military source.

The confrontation culminated in the neutralization of more than six insurgents, while other members of the terrorist group were wounded and fled the scene. Military sources describe the operation as "a success", part of a series of offensive actions aimed at dismantling the bases and logistical networks of the insurgents who are still moving around in areas of dense bush and difficult access.

The town of Miangalewa, where the confrontation took place, is located along the N380 national road, one of the few paved roads that cut through the northern part of Cabo Delgado, separated from the neighboring district of Macomia by the Messalo River, a region that has been the scene of armed incursions, ambushes and insurgent movements on a regular basis.
