A few days ago, the BCI Media Library in the city of Beira hosted the launch of the debut novel by young Mozambican writer Jaime Mambulisse, entitled “O cabrito que comia frangos”, in partnership with Mapeta Editora.
The book, a collection of chronicles presented by the writer Diogo Araújo Vaz, takes the reader to different contexts, from small communities to global spheres of influence, revealing, with irony and sharpness, the contradictions and challenges of social life.
As mentioned at the launch, the collection awakens critical thinking and invites reflection on the values that shape society, affirming Mambulisse as a new voice in Mozambican literature.
Representing the BCI, Commercial Director Tânya Barbosa highlighted the symbolism of the moment, saying that “this work goes beyond a mere book: it is a vibrant testimony to the vitality of literature in the city of Beira and a clear affirmation of the talent, creativity and expression of our youth”.
The Bank's representative added that “this launch reflects the BCI's commitment to art, culture and, in particular, Mozambican literature”.
The ceremony highlighted the fact that the author is a member of the Beira Book Club, an institution that has actively collaborated with the BCI, through the Media Library, in carrying out various cultural activities. “This partnership, based on trust, creativity and a shared purpose, is a source of great satisfaction, as it symbolizes the continuity of the Bank's firm commitment to being an active agent in promoting art, culture and knowledge,” said Barbosa.
For Jaime Mambulisse, “launching the book was a very important stage, as it was my first experience. I really enjoyed it. It was like the birth of a child,” he said, expressing the hope that the book will echo the stories of everyday life in the hands of readers. “The BCI, as an institution that welcomes new talent, represents an embrace that should be extended to many others,” she said.
