Barcelona issued a categorical denial this afternoon of reports of an alleged fine of 16 million euros for irregularities identified in payments to players.

"The sanctions referred to in the article, which have been appealed to the Central Administrative Economic Court, relate to another matter, as does the tax treatment of payments made to players' agents," the Catalan club's statement said.

According to the Spanish club, in April 2023, the Central Administrative Economic Court upheld the appeals filed by the club's lawyers, annulling the penalties relating to Personal Income Tax.

"It is to be hoped that the Value Added Tax sanction, which also refers to the tax treatment of payments made to players' agents, will soon be annulled. The club will ask for the information to be rectified," he concluded.
