World Bank announces 10 million to fund agricultural research projects in Mozambique

Mozambique is one of the beneficiaries of an additional grant estimated at $70 million, disbursed by the World Bank to finance the Eastern and Southern African Centers for Excellence in Higher Education (ACE II) Project.

Of the $70 million, Mozambique will receive $10 million to strengthen higher education and research in agriculture and extend the successful ACE model, which aims to further strengthen the region's capacity to provide high-quality training and applied research in the field of agriculture, a statement quoted by AIM said.

Mozambique has already established its first Center of Excellence in Agri-Food Systems and Innovation, with the objective of building high-quality technical and research capacity for agricultural development.
The main objective of ACE II is to strengthen links between universities in the participating countries and to support efforts to meet the needs of the regional agricultural sector by strengthening agri-food education and training reinforced with transdisciplinary approaches and applied research.
