An Air India plane with more than 240 people on board, including seven Portuguese, crashed in a residential area near Ahmedabad airport in India. It was bound for London's Gatwick airport.
It was a Boeing 787 and there were 230 passengers and 12 crew on board. There are no confirmed casualties yet.
Air India has confirmed that flight AI171 on the Ahmedabad - London Gatwick route was involved in an accident on Thursday.
According to the local press, quoted by SIC NewsThe plane crashed minutes after take-off.
Images released by local television channels and shared on social media showed thick black smoke rising into the sky from the area where the plane crashed.
