Inspections, inspections and audits of commercial establishments have been suspended indefinitely, the Tax Authority (AT) announced on Tuesday.

The measure comes in the wake of abnormal cases, such as the duplication of procedures, in some situations, in a short space of time, by two or more teams with the same objective, according to Notícias.

AT spokesman Fernando Tinga said that this was the culmination of an internal assessment that has been carried out with a view to finding better coordination platforms between the two areas, namely the Directorate-General for Customs and the Directorate-General for Internal Taxes.

The AT claims to have received complaints from taxpayers pointing to difficulties in understanding the technical language used in the process of audits, inspections and inspections, because it is not always accessible to the public.
