The Angolan authorities arrested two Angolans and a Tanzanian at Luanda international airport in possession of almost nine kilograms of cocaine.
According to the Criminal Investigation Service (SIC), the arrests and seizure of drugs took place in two cases, one of which involved a 43-year-old Tanzanian national, a transit passenger, who was carrying 2.976 kilograms of cocaine from Brazil, destined for South Africa.
Speaking to the Lusa news agency, SIC spokesman Manuel Halaiwa said that in the case of the Angolan citizens, aged 36 and 47, both were the recipients of two suitcases from Brazil containing 5.965 kilograms of cocaine.
Following the arrest of these two Angolan citizens, the authorities also detained two other people allegedly connected to this case.
"In this case, the number of arrests has risen to four, because after an initial investigation into the two citizens arrested at the airport, we managed to get to two more people, but the mastermind has yet to be determined," said Manuel Halaiwa.
