Angola is the US's third largest trading partner in sub-Saharan Africa, mainly due to oil exports. The definition of a strategic, economic and commercial partnership between Angola and the United States is seen by political analysts in Luanda as the best way to further increase cooperation between the two countries.

On Friday 19th, Washington and Luanda celebrated 30 years of diplomatic relations. Over the years, the two countries have deepened their exchanges, with regular visits by authorities, businesspeople and youth leaders.

At the moment, the two states are focusing on strengthening the bonds of friendship by sharing experiences in various areas of bilateral interest. Angola is the US's third largest trading partner in sub-Saharan Africa, mainly due to oil exports.

The President of the United States of America, Joe Biden, announced last year that his country's institutions will make around 15 billion dollars available for new projects which, in the long term, will serve to improve the lives of people on the African continent.

In addition to these resources, Joe Biden also announced another 350 million dollars for the digital transformation of the continent, as well as the facilitation of a further 450 million dollars in funding as a whole, including collaboration with institutions such as Microsoft, aimed at giving 5 million Africans access to the World Wide Web, as part of the multinational's commitment to reach 100 million people by 2025.

The United States ambassador to Angola and São Tomé and Príncipe, Tulinabo S. Mushingi, justifies his country's commitment to cooperation focused essentially on security, the aim of which is to protect the population from all kinds of threats. The president of the Angola-US Chamber of Commerce, Pedro Godinho, and international relations analyst Luís Domingos revisit this path and point to the need for a "strategic partnership".
