The National Road Administration (ANE) has just launched a public tender to select a consultant to draw up the conceptual project for the rehabilitation of the 508-kilometer National Road Number One (EN1).

The financial agreement for the rehabilitation of this road, on the Inchope-Gorongosa, Gorongosa-Caia, Chimuara-Nicoadala and Metoro-Pemba sections, worth around 26 billion meticais, has already been signed, according to "Notícias".

According to the same source, the government has already received funding from the World Bank to support the Safe Roads for Socioeconomic Integration Program and intends to use part of the funds to pay for consultancy services.

The contracted consultant will develop contracting strategies and conduct a climate vulnerability risk assessment, as well as recommending adaptation measures to increase resilience to climate effects.

The consultant will also have to prepare the tender documentation and integrate environmental and social requirements into the development of the conceptual designs.
