The National Alliance for a Free and Autonomous Mozambique (ANAMOLA) party, led by Venâncio Mondlane, has asked the President of the Republic, Daniel Chapo, to participate in the Inclusive National Dialogue.
To this end, Venâncio Mondlane suggested changing the law to allow the political force to be included in the mechanism. The ANAMOLA leader's justification stems from the fact that he was the second most voted candidate in the October presidential elections.
Mondlane also points out that the organization he heads represents thousands of Mozambicans, which is sufficient grounds for it to sit on the Inclusive National Dialogue.
"The ANAMOLA party, despite not being in the representative assemblies, represents a significant fringe of thousands of Mozambicans, and its leader, according to official data, was the second most voted candidate, consequently a member of the Council of State," reads the text.
In the letter, Venâncio Mondlane stresses that he had two meetings with Daniel Chapo, in the presence of individuals of recognized merit.
The former presidential candidate says that he did not meet with Filipe Nyusi, then President of the Republic, when preliminary meetings were held to stabilize the political situation, due to "motivations that are notorious and known to all", in a reference to the fact that at the time he was out of the country and in an unknown place, for reasons that he later said had to do with his safety.
Mondlane therefore asked Daniel Chapo to take steps to change the law to allow ANAMOLA to take part in the dialogue.
According to Law No. 1/2025, of April 11, on the Political Commitment for an Inclusive National Dialogue, only parties with seats in the Assembly of the Republic, provincial assemblies and municipal assemblies participate in this platform.
