The Executive Committee of the National Alliance for a Free and Autonomous Mozambique (ANAMOLA) party decided on Tuesday to set up a foundation to be called the Elvino Dias Foundation.

"The creation of the Elvino Dias Foundation was approved - this was much needed - and the ANAMOLA Association, to be formalized by the National Council. We pay tribute to the man who said: we're going to keep fighting until the end. He gave his life, sacrificed his family, died for us. We're going to pay tribute to Elvino Dias on behalf of the more than 500 people, officially speaking, who fell for the ANAMOLA movement, for the creation of a truly democratic state governed by the rule of law," said the party's interim spokesman, Dinis Tivane.

It should be remembered that Elvino Dias was the lawyer for the interim president of ANAMOLA, Venâncio Mondlane, who fought battles in the justice institutions for the restoration of electoral truth in the local elections of 2023 and the general elections of 2024. He was assassinated on the night of October 18, in the Coop neighborhood of Maputo city. In his bullet-riddled car, he was accompanied by Paulo Guambe, then a member of the Optimist Party for the Development of Mozambique, who also died at the scene. A third person, a woman, was in the vehicle and survived the martyrdom.

"As we can't forget, we had an electoral fraud [in 2024] that was massively contested and resulted in a violent reaction from our police units. That led to deaths, injuries, injuries that continue to this day. And the party could not remain indifferent to this situation. So it was decided that part of the dues that Mozambicans will give to this movement will be used for reparations or compensation under the terms to be set at the first meeting of the National Council," he said.

Speaking after the first Extraordinary Session of the party's EC, Tivane also said that the party's top priority will be to prepare for the 2028 and 2029 elections.

In this regard, it was decided that the party will invest in modernized branches in all districts of the country, as well as creating a digital infrastructure for the registration of party members.
