After negotiations under the direction of the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Celso Correia, cotton producers and industrialists agreed yesterday to maintain the price scale applied last year.

Celso Correia said that the decision will allow farmers to continue producing seed cotton en masse.

"We're doing this because we're fulfilling a promise and a commitment we made last year. It doesn't mean that next year the price will remain the same. We're looking for the ideal price to stabilize. Probably 30 meticais, but we want to maintain it because we have concrete objectives and we want to be consistent with our policy," said the government.
