A road accident involving a collision between vehicles caused the death of two people in the early hours of Saturday morning, at the entrance to the 25 de Novembro Secondary School, in the town of Quissico, Inhambane province.
One of the victims died at the scene and the other in hospital due to the seriousness of his injuries, according to the district commander of the Republic of Mozambique Police (PRM) in Zavala, Eginaldo Magule.
"We're celebrating Msaho and people were leaving the village after celebrating and we found that they had consumed alcoholic beverages and couldn't control the vehicles in that place," he said, as quoted by the RM.
In addition to drunkenness, speeding was also identified as a possible cause of the accident. Eight other people were injured.
On Saturday, Quissico hosted the Timbila Festival, aka Msaho.
