As part of the project to equip libraries in Mozambique, Access Bank offered books to secondary schools in Tete and Muatala, in the provinces of Tete and Nampula respectively.
The initiative, carried out in partnership with Alcance Editores, took place on Tuesday, January 31, and will facilitate studies and research for more than 14,000 students in the two schools.
The book delivery ceremonies, which coincided with the official opening of the 2023 school year, brought together more than 500 people, including parents, students, partners and members of the government.
The Managing Director of Access Bank Mozambique, Marco Abalroado, said that "the equipping of libraries and the donation of books to schools is an action that has been carried out continuously, reflecting the Bank's commitment to the education of the younger generation in Mozambique".
"We want to encourage the habit of reading among students, helping them to acquire more knowledge and have greater success at school," he said.
Sérgio Arroz, manager of the Access Bank branch in Tete, said that "the Bank aims to support the development of an increasingly educated society, by promoting access to books, guiding students in understanding the issues that have been gaining more importance for the development of communities," he said.
"Reading is the fastest and most efficient way to find knowledge. We hope that the students and teachers make good use of this material and keep it in good condition for the benefit of the entire student community," said Saidata Aly, manager of the Access Bank branch in Nampula.
Access Bank Mozambique started the project to equip libraries nationwide in June 2022, having already covered the provinces of Nampula, Tete, Maputo and Beira. The initiative reflects the Bank's commitment to Mozambique, showing itself to be a dedicated institution committed to contributing to the education of Mozambicans.
