Daniel Chapo, the presidential candidate, promised this Monday to transform the province of Cabo Delgado into the capital of hydrocarbons.
The desire to transform the province stems from the fact that the province is particularly rich in mineral resources and natural gas.
Quoted by the newspaper "O País", Chapo said he also wanted to convince the multinational companies that exploit Cabo Delgado's mineral resources to invest more in promoting the development of the province's communities.
He also wants these companies to give priority to hiring national companies, and Cabo Delgado companies in particular, to provide services and supply goods to these companies, so as to have a strong Mozambican private sector.
The Frelimo presidential candidate promises to work so that part of the taxes paid by the companies that exploit the resources are used in Cabo Delgado, mainly to invest in structuring development projects in the province, so that the population can feel that the resources the province holds are changing the lives of each and every one of Cabo Delgado's residents.
In another development, Daniel Chapo said that Cabo Delgado could compete with Inhambane for the position of tourism capital, because it has beautiful beaches, beautiful islands, conservation areas, hunting grounds and all the conditions for world-class tourism.
