Members of the Frelimo party were arrested, tried and sentenced for attempted electoral fraud in the city of Quelimane, Zambezia province.

According to Manuel de Araújo, Renamo's candidate for governor of Zambézia, this is Frelimo's provincial secretary, Frelimo's candidate for member of the Municipal Assembly and another member of the same party.

"We have three people under arrest at the moment, including the provincial secretary of Frelimo. They were found, one with 17 votes and the other with 20 votes trying to get them into the ballot box," Manuel de Araújo told journalists.

According to the source, the convicts left the courtroom in handcuffs and will have to serve six months in prison without bail

Manuel de Araújo called on young people to follow the law and not allow themselves to be exploited, otherwise they would see the sun in squares.
