Zambézia: EDM restores electric power in Nicoadala and Namacurra two months later

Zambézia: EDM restabelece energia eléctrica em Nicoadala e Namacurra dois meses depois

On Wednesday, Electricidade de Moçambique (EDM) announced that it had restored the electricity supply to customers in the districts of Nicoadala and Namacurra, the Macusse Administrative Post and the village of Licuar, in Zambézia province.

The two districts had been cut off from electricity since March by Tropical Cyclone Freddy.

The rain and strong winds in that part of the country destroyed and flooded numerous electrical infrastructures, which hampered the replacement work, which lasted around two months.

According to a statement issued by EDM yesterday, power was restored in the Inhassunge district on April 20, with power still to be restored in the town of Chirimane.

The company also guaranteed that EDM's technical teams are currently on the ground to restore the normal electricity supply to the towns of Chirimane, Zalala and Madal and the village of Supinho, which are still without power.

"The situation is expected to be normalized in that part of the country by the end of this month," EDM said.
