Zambézia: STAE deputy director denounces irregularities in MMV training and clearance

Zambézia: Director adjunto do STAE denuncia irregularidades na formação e apuramento de MMVs

The process of training and clearing staff to work as Members of the Polling Station (MMVs) is marred by irregularities, according to the Deputy Director of the Technical Secretariat for Electoral Administration (STAE) in Zambézia.

In addition to the scandal of a list sent to STAE by a political party that led to the annulment of a public tender, 41 national MMV trainers were sent to Quelimane from other provinces.

However, the mission also included selecting the candidates for the MMV vacancies, and was supposed to send STAE the list of those selected and the alternates, but this did not happen.

The training ended on October 4 in Quelimane, and as of Sunday, October 6, the list had still not been sent to STAE. It is also unknown where they are working to provide the lists.

In addition, Maia Madeira said that a list containing the full names of 264 polling station presidents and where they came from had been discovered, even though a list had been drawn up by the district STAE.

The list with the names of the vice-presidents was also unveiled, along with the functions to be performed in the neighborhood of residence, "which was not one of the requirements demanded by the STAE".

In addition, the STAE district director, the first deputy and five STAE district technicians have not been seen for about four days.

"We submitted a complaint of wrongdoing to the provincial STAE and, so far, there has been no response... and we are still here, in the institution, without any information from the provincial trainers," he said, quoted by STV.
