Vulcan investe 6 milhões de meticais para garantir água a comunidades de Moatize em Tete

The communities of Moatize, in Tete province, now have eleven new drinking water supply points, the result of an investment by Vulcan of over six million meticais. The infrastructure was handed over last Friday (October 31) and brings the total number of points installed by the company to 29.

The new systems benefit the neighborhoods of Nhantchere, Bagamoyo, 1.º de Maio, Liberdade and Chithatha, and are part of Vulcan's commitment to improving the living conditions of local communities. Each point consists of tanks with a capacity of 20,000 liters, supplied regularly by tanker trucks.

According to Reges Tauelia, Vulcan's Social Development Projects supervisor, the aim is to ensure that more and more families have regular and safe access to drinking water. “This is a parallel initiative to the borehole drilling program. We want to continue investing in new supply points and increase the number of boreholes drilled,” he said.

Isabel Reino Sixpence, councillor for the Social Area of the Moatize Municipal Council, praised the company for its partnership with the municipality. “Once again, Vulcan has demonstrated its commitment to the well-being of its citizens. We know the difficulties that many neighborhoods face and we thank them for this quick response,” she said.

Among the beneficiaries, the relief is visible. Jacinta Vicente, a resident of the Nhantchere neighborhood, said that before she had to walk long distances to get water.
“Before, we had to cross the railroad tracks and the road to fetch water in a distant place, and we'd stay up late looking for it. Now the suffering will be much less. We're grateful to the company,” he said.

With this step, Vulcan reinforces its role as an active partner in the development of Moatize and has already set new goals: to install twenty self-supporting systems, fed by boreholes and solar panels, in the next investment cycles - a commitment to sustainability and the continuous improvement of people's quality of life.
