The volume of containerized cargo entering the port of Beira, in Sofala, could grow by 34% this year with the arrival of around 600 cargo ships.
According to a Radio MozambiqueAmong the vessels that will be able to dock at the port infrastructure are the PANAMAX, considered to be the largest container ships in the world, with a length of over 300 meters.
To this end, Lino Nhacumba, director of Maritime Services for the Mozambique Railways Company CFM-Centro in Sofala, assured that "with the reinforcement of the dredging work, the navigation quotas have already been established".
The port of Beira in Sofala is located between the estuaries of the Pungué and Búzi rivers and is about 28 kilometers long, equivalent to 15 nautical miles.
