A school security guard died two days after allegedly being attacked by a 13-year-old girl while trying to break up a fight between two other people.
According to Miramar, it is a 51-year-old employee of the Unit 19 Primary School who was assaulted by a seventh-grader at the Airport Secondary School with a bottle.
A witness said that the attacker was defending her cousin who had been involved in a fight with his colleague.
The victim allegedly grabbed the attacker's cousin to break up the fight, at which point the 13-year-old girl broke a bottle and hit the guard on the head.
He was taken to hospital, along with the aggressor, and then they were taken to a police station.
After being discharged from hospital, the source says, it was learned that the victim had been observed by inexperienced health workers. He was allegedly stitched up at the site of the injury without undergoing an X-ray.
The Police of the Republic of Mozambique (PRM) is aware of the case and regrets that it is unable to attribute responsibility because the girl is a minor.
