Video: Environmental activists vandalize Van Gogh's work

Vídeo: Activistas ambientais vandalizam obra de Van Gogh

Activist environmental members of the group Just Stop Oil have vandalized Van Gogh's work, Sunflowers, at the National Gallery in London, UK. They are two women who entered a room in the gallery in Trafalgar Square at around 11am local time and poured tomato sauce over the painting.

According to Metsul, the radical activists poured two cans of 'Heinz' tomato sauce over the painting. The famous painting from 1888, has an estimated value of 72.5 million pounds.

A video shows the two women placing their hands on the wall below the painting, before one shouts, "What is worth more? Art or life? "Is it worth more than food? Is it worth more than justice?"

The act comes on the 14th day of demonstrations linked to the group demanding that the British government suspend all new oil and gas licenses.

The climate change protester continued, "Are you guys more concerned about protecting a painting? Or about protecting our planet and people? "Fuel is unaffordable for millions of cold hungry families. They can't even heat a can of soup," she added, brandishing a can.

"Police quickly arrived at the National Gallery this morning after the two Just Stop Oil protesters spilled a substance on a painting. Both were arrested for criminal damage and aggravated trespass," Metropolitan Police Events wrote on its Twitter account.

Activists from the group have been blocking roads around parliament for the past few days. Last Sunday, police said more than 100 people were arrested after a weekend of protest-related activities by environmental groups.
