Mining company MMC Resources has sold more than a ton of gold extracted from the Cassossole mine in Kassupe, Macanga district, Tete province, to Dubai since it began operations in 2018.
The Cassossole mine is considered to be the largest underground deposit in the country, some 400 meters deep.
MMC Resources has been increasing its exploration capacity, and currently extracts between 20 and 30 kilograms of gold every month, compared to an average of 13 to 14 kilograms at the start of operations, reports the News.
The increase in production stems from investments in equipment, according to the company's representative, Ovídio Jamice, who stressed that investments will continue in order to achieve the goal of producing 40 kilograms of gold every month.
But not everything is wonderful. Jamice says that one of the biggest challenges has been retaining qualified labor. Technicians leave their jobs because of the lack of basic public services in the area where the mine is located.
That's why there are 31 Chinese technicians working alongside 233 Mozambicans.
