Venâncio Mondlane felicita María Corina Machado pelo Prémio Nobel da Paz 2025

The leader of the National Alliance for a Free and Autonomous Mozambique (ANAMOLA) party, Venâncio Mondlane, congratulated Venezuelan opposition figure María Corina Machado on winning the 2025 Nobel Peace Prize, announced on Friday (10) by the Norwegian Nobel Committee..

In a message posted on social media, Mondlane expressed "immense delight and deep admiration" for the award, considering it "deserved and inspiring". The Mozambican politician praised Machado's role in defending the democratic rights of the Venezuelan people and in the "courageous struggle for a just and peaceful transition from dictatorship to democracy".

"Their struggle is a beacon of hope in dark times, proving that peaceful resistance and commitment to the truth can change the course of history," Mondlane wrote, adding that the award "revitalizes the hopes of the oppressed and inspires generations to rise up against oppression and regimes that, at the cost of electoral fraud, want to perch themselves in power."

Venâncio Mondlane concluded his message with words of solidarity: "We are together, María."

In its official statement, the Committee described Machado as a "woman who keeps the flame of democracy burning in the midst of darkness" and an "extraordinary example of civic courage" in Latin America. The Committee's president stressed that, at a time when democracy is facing threats in various parts of the world, her resistance "is a reminder that popular power must prevail over authoritarianism".

The award marks a historic moment for Venezuela, which has been plunged into a political and economic crisis for years under the regime of Nicolás Maduro.

María Corina Machado, 57, is one of the main figures in the Venezuelan opposition and has faced political persecution, electoral bans and constant threats from the regime. Even though she was barred from contesting the presidential elections, she has become a symbol of democratic resistance in Venezuela.

The 2025 Nobel Peace Prize will be awarded on 10 December in Oslo, during the traditional ceremony that celebrates personalities or organizations that have contributed the most to world peace.
