The general strikes and demonstrations called throughout the country by Venâncio Mondlane may cease, as he himself said on Thursday (24), from "an uncertain location".
According to Mondlane, some intention "on the other side" to find common ground has already been expressed.
"We have red lines in this dialog. The first is the restoration of electoral truth, that the will of the people's vote is respected," he said.
Mondlane challenged the National Electoral Commission (CNE) and the Frelimo party to present the public notices proving the victory of the political formation and its candidate in the October 9 general elections.
"This is the big question: present the public notices. If the public notices prove unequivocally that Frelimo won, we don't need to continue with our demonstrations, with this demand," he said.
The independent candidate, supported by the Podemos party, reiterated his openness to dialogue if evidence of victory is presented.
"We may be demonstrating for no reason, then we'll accept it, we'll correct ourselves, and we'll come to an understanding. We're interested in having an understanding and that there won't be a standstill for much longer," he said.
