Venâncio Mondlane, a member of Renamo's parliamentary caucus, says that he does not yet intend to form his own political party because he is convinced that Renamo has the best political project for the development of Mozambique.
"At the moment my energies and perspectives are not thinking about a new party. I'm thinking about this party for which I left a lot behind, financial and social tranquillity, to join this party because of my convictions," he clarified during an interview with Success TV.
Venâncio Mondlane was Renamo's list leader in the October 11, 2023 elections. Having failed to win the elections, he publicly announced his candidacy to succeed Ossufo Momade as party president. At the time of the announcement, Mondlane was the rapporteur for the Renamo caucus in parliament and an advisor to the Renamo president. He was removed from office.
"I would very much like to be able to continue contributing to this country within Renamo, which seems to me to be the best political project for a democratic alternative in Mozambique. My plans are still all conceived within Renamo and not in any other party," he said.
Meanwhile, the deputy is open to being a candidate for the Presidency of the Republic if he is not elected to be President of Renamo.
"Naturally, I would be willing to take on this challenge if Renamo decided to do so. Considering this and the perception of popular trust that I have, I would not hesitate to accept this challenge," he clarified.
