Researcher João Feijó believes that Venâncio Mondlane's life is in danger after returning to Mozambique, but he also recognizes that the politician fears nothing.
"I would say yes, his life is in danger. Frelimo's modus operandi is one of threat or coercion, or political cohabitation through benefits. So Venâncio Mondlane has already shown that he's not afraid, he's assertively confronting power, and he's already shown that he can't be captured economically and that his motivation is not money, but pride," he said in a podcast on the Frelimo website. Public.
According to Feijó, it is crucial that Frelimo, if it wants to govern as it does, sits down for a dialog with Venâncio Mondlane. Until then, for the researcher, the "talks" between the President of the Republic, Filipe Nyusi and the leaders of the political parties with seats in parliament have been nothing more than theatrics.
"The country today is misgoverned. The government authorities themselves are victims of this governance. Policemen aren't on the streets because they're afraid of the population. The next government has to stop this political blindness and realize that it won't be able to govern without negotiating with Venâncio Mondlane," he warned.
The post-election demonstrations in Mozambique have been taking place since October 21, and have been called by the politician Venâncio Mondlane, who is claiming victory in the General Elections of October 9, 2024.
After two and a half months out of the country, this Saturday Mondlane called for three days of stoppages and demonstrations against the swearing in of new members of Parliament and the President of the Republic.
