The presidential candidate of the Optimist Party for the Development of Mozambique (PODEMOS), Venâncio Mondlane, promised to announce, today, Monday (28), the measures included in the third stage of the protests against the election results announced by the National Electoral Commission (CNE) and against the murder of lawyer Elvino Dias and filmmaker and politician Paulo Guambe..
Although the measures to be adopted are not yet known, one thing is certain, according to Venâncio Mondlane. That the measures will be quite tough and bolder, compared to the demonstrations on the 21st [the first stage] and the 24th and 25th [the second stage]. According to the presidential candidate, there will be four million Mozambicans on the streets throughout the country.
According to a Savannah newspaper He said that in view of this reality, Venâncio Mondlane asked that Saturday, Sunday and Monday be used for what he considered "drawing air", as the struggle continues.
"As I said, Frelimo must get down on its knees before the people. Frelimo has never learned to be humble. For Frelimo, the people have to do its bidding, no matter who it hurts. That's enough. Let's put an end to Frelimo's arrogant and inflexible behaviour against the people," he said on Saturday, accusing the Defence and Security Forces (FDS) of continuing to infiltrate the marches, all to tarnish the organization and civic-mindedness of the young people who continue to organize the protests.
