Venâncio Mondlane, a member of the Assembly of the Republic, recently acknowledged in Nampula that there are difficulties in the current internal management model of the Renamo party and advocated reforms.
"Renamo as a brand is in a moment of glory. But there is no doubt that Renamo's internal management has problems and needs to be reformed," he told the press in the city of Nampula.
For the MP, the people are longing for a different kind of leadership, since Ossufo Momade's current leadership is shying away from the wishes of the people when they need it most.
"We have noticed that at the moment there is some apathy in the response to moments when the people really feel agonized that their fundamental rights have been violated. People need a voice, a spokesperson. We feel that Renamo is failing to be a spokesperson for the people in their afflictions. There is no doubt about that. In fact, our leadership is failing in this role," he said.
From the perspective of Renamo's former candidate for the Maputo municipality, the people are seeing their expectations of seeing some issues resolved with the party's support dashed.
"It's the obligation of anyone who has any responsibility in the party to come to the aid of this population," he said.
